A place where children can ride a bicycle before they can even walk, and where everyone comes outside to see a cycling race passing by, that is Belgium. That is where Ridley Bikes was born. As a young rider, Jochim Aerts always expected the best from himself and his equipment. Because he was unsatisfied with his bikes, Jochim decided to build them on his own. In 1990, he founded NV Race productions, a company that made bicycles for local bike shops. In 1997, Jochim started his own brand Ridley Bikes. Thanks to a constant commitment to innovation, Ridley managed to stay in front ever since the beginning. The tapered headtube was first introduced by Ridley on the 2001 Damocles. Nowadays, it is a standard in bike industry. Ridley was not only involved in the search for new materials. In terms of aerodynamics, we succeeded in raising the bar for others by using our patented FAST-technologies. Inspired by nature and based on facts and on-the-field-experiences, Ridley still strives to design and build better bicycles every time.
To build the best race bike in the world!
Ridley Bikes was started by the innovative spirit of one man, Jochim Aerts, a highly skilled frame builder and painter who began in 1990 producing frames for Belgian bicycle companies. Jochim’s passion for road racing and frame craftsmanship was soon channeled into his own brand in 1997 when Ridley Bicycles was founded. In a few short years, Ridley became the market leader in Belgium for racing bikes. It was Jochim’s partnerships with racing clubs and a good eye for advanced racing technology that created Ridley’s early success. It has always been a key part of our product development to create a strong alliance with our teams, not just providing them with bikes, but working on a very close basis with our riders and the team mechanics to develop our models. Our teams compete on ‘stock’ frames which enables us to test under extreme riding conditions. This is our core development program to ensure that a well refined product is launched to our customers. Feedback from our teams fuels the next generation of Ridley bikes.
